Thus we could carry forward the old project with which the contest was born, and that could be synthesized in the old adage: “eman ta zabal zazu”. It will not be until the formation of the Basque Government, when thanks to their support we were able to give a good economic jump and a substantial quantitative and above all qualitative leap in attracting some of the best amateur and semi-professional choirs from around the world. In the following years, the contest will continue to bring more foreign choirs, always ensuring that they were of very good quality, but in a limited number due to the economic restrictions in which they moved. It would be in the 5th edition of the contest, in 1973, when foreign choirs for the first time, there would be only two, “Chor Gemtschule Marktoberdorff” (Marktoberdorf-Germany) and “Coral Le Madrigal de Lyon” (Lyon-France). It will be in the 1971 edition when groups from other territories, all still from the Spanish state, will appear at the scenic stage of the contest. At that time the choirs were all local, just missing a choir Iparralde, but this was corrected in the next edition, the 1970, with the participation of the Coral “Begiraleak” (Donibane Lohitzun-Lapurdi).
